The Maltman Islay Blended Malt 10 Year Old 2010 (54.5%)

The Maltman Islay Blended Malt 10 Years Old is a blend of malts from Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain, put together by the independent bottler The Maltman (Meadowside Blending). It was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2020 at a cask strength of 54.5%, non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring. The nose is medicinal, with Lysol and Dettol, peat smoke, harbour ropes after a storm at sea, white fruit with vanilla pods and freshly ground sea salt. Citrus on the palate turns oily, with sweet peat, salty liquorice and soot from a warm chimney. The finish brings roasted nuts into a warming, oily close with pepper and chilli.
