The Nine Springs Muscatel Cask is a German single malt from the No 9 Spirituosen Manufaktur in Leinefelde-Worbis, Thuringia, bottled at 47% ABV in a 50cl bottle.
The whisky first matured in former Woodford Reserve bourbon casks. It then spent more than five years in a 500-litre Muscatel cask.
The nose is layered, with greengage, honeydew melon and fine vanilla, alongside grain, sandalwood, spice and fresh leather. The palate is notably soft, balancing dry and sweet notes, and a drop of water brings the fruit forward.
