This is a single cask Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in 2005 and bottled by Duncan Taylor. It was matured in an octave, a small cask, and is bottled at 54.9% ABV. The colour is deep amber.
The nose opens with peat smoke and medicinal iodine, alongside sea salt and seaweed, with red apple and honey coming through later. On the palate it is oily and smoky, with white pepper, vanilla and caramel sweetness, then smoked meat and grilled vegetables. The finish is long and dry, with spicy bitterness, smoke, and a sharpness of citrus and unripe fruit.
