The Quiet Man is a blended Irish whiskey made from grain and malt whiskey from Irish distilleries, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The components matured entirely in former bourbon casks, and Niche Drinks marries and bottles the blend in Derry.
The name recalls John Mulgrew, who worked as a barman for more than 50 years and was known for his discretion. His son Ciaran named the brand after him.
The nose opens with butterscotch, sweet creamy fizz, chocolate with a honeycomb centre, pear, yellow apple and vanilla. The palate is soft and smooth, with vanilla, honey, toasted oak, cinnamon, apple and pineapple. The finish is gentle and lightly peppery, with honey, vanilla, shortbread and a hint of black tea.
