This is an 8 year old Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2019 at 62.1% ABV. It comes from a butt cask, in a 70cl bottle, and has a pale straw colour.
Caol Ila is described as fresh pear and grass with a soft smoke and a coastal character.
The nose is bonfire and ashes with malted straw and tropical fruit, then pepper and clove. The palate has heavy liquorice and spice, smoked ham, a little sea salt and citrus peel, with more fruit sweetness than the nose. The finish is long, with ash, peat, salty fruit sweetness and pepper.
