This is a 25 year old single malt from Yamazaki, the Suntory distillery near Kyoto that was established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky matured in a mix of American oak, Spanish sherry oak and Japanese Mizunara oak. It won Best Single Malt at the World Whisky Awards in 2012.
The nose is rich and fruity with walnut, almond, a little toffee and a touch of oak. The palate is soft and full-bodied, with sherry and a hint of caramel. The finish is gently long, with peppercorn, sherry-soaked cherries and nuts.
