Thompson Bros Auchentoshan 1998 Vintage 28 Year Old (70cl, 45.9%)

This Auchentoshan was distilled in 1998 and matured for 28 years before being bottled by independent bottler Thompson Bros. It is a Lowland single malt in a 70cl bottle, drawn from two wine casks. It is bottled at its natural cask strength of 45.9%, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour. Auchentoshan is triple-distilled. The nose combines lemon drizzle cake, ripe peaches and poached pears with vanilla custard and honeycomb, plus floral notes, toasted almonds and red berries. The palate offers sweet citrus, baked orchard fruit, vanilla, raspberry compote and toasted brioche. The finish is long, with candied lemon peel, ripe berries, vanilla cream, oak and delicate spice.
