Thompson Bros Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2000 21 Year Old

This is a 21 year old Highland single malt from the independent bottler Thompson Bros. It was distilled in 2000 at a Highland distillery that is not named, and the casks were emptied to make 589 bottles. The label carries illustrations in the usual Thompson Bros style, which may hint at where the whisky came from. The nose is candied fruit and juicy dates, with damp oak, old leather and hazelnut over a mineral base. On the palate come earthy wood spice and deep oak, with caramelised nuts and waxy peel. The finish stays sweet, with flinty minerality, dried orange and pecan.
