Thompson Bros Invergordon 1972 48 Year Old Single Grain

This is a single grain Scotch whisky from the Invergordon distillery, distilled in 1972 and aged for 48 years. It was bottled independently by Thompson Bros, the team behind Dornoch Distillery. Only 260 bottles were produced, each with a stern-looking eagle on the label. The nose brings dusty oak furniture, caramel, cola bottle sweets and subtle terracotta spice. The palate offers maple syrup, Victoria sponge, melted butter, cumin, black pepper, lemon meringue and a touch of floral grain. The finish is cedar, cinnamon, waxy orange and pot-pourri.
