Three Ships 12 Year Old is a South African single malt from the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington.
The nose opens with honeycomb, ripe orchard fruit and vanilla pod, over toasted oak, warm spice and a faint smoky, earthy undertone, with dried apricot, malt biscuit and light citrus oils. The palate is silky and well structured, with caramelised sugar, baked apple and golden syrup, then nutmeg, clove and subtle charred oak. The finish is long, warming and gently spiced, with vanilla, honey, a touch of dry oak and a whisper of smoke or earthy malt.
