Togouchi 15 Year Old Japanese Blended Whisky (70cl, 43.8%)

Togouchi 15 Year Old is a Japanese blended whisky from the Sakurao Brewery and Distillery, bottled at 43.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is aged in a decommissioned railway tunnel in Akiota, where the temperature stays at 14°C. The blend sets spicy malt whiskies against mellow, sweet grain whiskies, and has a deep golden colour. Toasted nuts, dark chocolate and dried apricot and plum come through on the nose. The palate is velvety and full-bodied, with maltose, vanilla, white pepper, cinnamon and a background of earthy peat smoke. The finish is long and drying, with spicy oak and a faint citrus zest.
