A blended malt from the Sakurao Brewery and Distillery, formerly Chugoku Jozo, in Hiroshima Prefecture. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV.
Its distinctive feature is where it matures: a decommissioned railway tunnel in the mountains of Akiota, which holds a constant 14°C and 80% humidity all year. The whisky is a blend of various malts married together.
The nose is clean and fresh, with vanilla, chocolate and a faint hint of ripe apricot. The palate is light to medium, with butterscotch, honey and cereal grains over a soft nutty background and delicate pepper. The finish is short to medium, crisp, with a touch of sweet malt.
