Tomatin – Decades II (70cl, 46%)

Tomatin Decades II is a Highland single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is a tribute to everyone who has worked at Tomatin, past and present, and follows the first Decades, bottled in 2011 in honour of long-serving distillery manager Douglas Campbell. The vatting draws on five decades of casks: refill bourbon hogsheads from the 1970s, first fill oloroso sherry butts from the 1980s, first fill bourbon barrels from the 1990s, recharred Verdejo wine barrels from the 2000s and second fill French oak barrels from the 2010s. Sweet almond croissant, fresh hay, stewed apple and creamy coconut mark the nose. The palate is festive and spiced, and the finish is waxy citrus with chai-spiced dark chocolate.
