North Coast Rye is a straight rye whiskey from Traverse City Whiskey Co. in Michigan, bottled at 45% in a 750ml bottle. It is fermented, distilled, aged and bottled at the company's Grand Traverse Distillery in northern Michigan. Two mashbills are blended: a 95% rye and 5% malted barley whiskey aged in #3 char barrels, and a 100% rye whiskey aged in #4 char barrels from a different cooperage. It won Double Gold at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The nose has black pepper, toasted grain, caramel, dill and a faint herbal note. The palate brings rye spice, toffee, clove, cinnamon and spearmint, and the finish is clean and moderately long, with pepper and gentle barrel char.
