Velvet Cap Single Malt Bordeaux Finish Irish Whisky (70cl)

This is an Irish single malt released under the revived Velvet Cap label by Blackwater Distillery. The triple-distilled whisky was sourced from another Irish distillery and first matured in ex-bourbon casks. Blackwater's blending team then finished it in hand-selected French oak casks that previously held Bordeaux red wine. It is bottled non-chill filtered, in a 70cl bottle. The nose is led by blackcurrant, dark plum and marzipan, with vanilla bean, toasted oak and a touch of violet. The palate is full and velvety, with dark cherries, blackberry jam and honeyed malt before dry red wine tannins, nutmeg and wood spice. The finish is long and warming, with dark cocoa, dried fruit and dry oak.
