Velvet Cap Single Malt is a peated Irish single malt in a 70cl bottle, selected and finished by Blackwater Distillery under its Velvet Cap bonding mark. The triple-distilled malt comes from another Irish distillery and was finished in Oloroso sherry hogsheads. It is bottled non-chill-filtered.
On the nose, bonfire smoke, raisins and dark chocolate come with roasted walnuts, orange marmalade and soft leather. The palate opens with dark cherries, dried fruit and fig paste before thick peat smoke, espresso, clove and toasted oak. The finish is long and smoky, with dark cocoa and dry sherry tannins.
