W.L. Weller Aged 12 Years is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. In a wheated bourbon, wheat rather than rye is the main grain after corn in the mash bill. At twelve years old, it has been aged for far longer than most wheated bourbons, and it has a deep bronze colour.
The nose offers lanolin, almond, creamed corn and toasty vanilla, along with orange peel, chocolate and baking spices. The palate is layered and moderately sweet, with pecan and maple syrup. The finish is long, oaky and smooth.
