W.L. Weller Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon (75cl, 48.5%)

This is a single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery, bottled at 48.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Weller is known as the original wheated bourbon, using wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain, in the tradition of William Larue Weller. Each bottle comes from an individual hand-selected barrel, so the character that develops in maturation differs from one barrel to the next. The nose is ripe cherry and fresh mint, giving way to smooth vanilla. The palate offers rich caramel, baking spices and hints of cocoa. The finish is long and warming, with cinnamon, coffee and a little black pepper.
