Founder's Reserve is a Tasmanian single malt from Waubs Harbour, in a 50cl bottle at a cask strength of 62% ABV. It is made using the distillery's highest quality ex-tawny port casks and is described as rich and oily, with a maritime character.
The nose offers whipped cream and maple syrup over pancakes, with dried apricots and sultanas. The palate is big, juicy and oily, warm at this strength, with sticky date pudding, a hint of chocolate and waffle cone. The finish begins with ginger and wood, moves to coffee grounds and ends in a long, gooey salted caramel.
