West Cork Bog Oak Charred Cask Irish Single Malt (43%)

This Irish single malt from West Cork Distillers is one of the first two bottlings in the Glengarriff Series. The whiskey was first matured in sherry casks. It then spent six months finishing in casks made from bog oak, charred with the distillery's own charring device using fuel from the Glengarriff Forest in West Cork. It is bottled at 43% ABV. The nose opens with smoky notes, slightly mezcal-like, with sultanas and green apple behind. On the palate come drying spices, barley sugar and yellow plum. The finish is a lingering smokiness with a touch of brown sugar.
