West Cork Irish IPA Cask Finish Whiskey (70cl, 40%)

This is an Irish whiskey from West Cork Distillers, finished in casks that previously held India Pale Ale. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 40%, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. The beer in question is a strongly hopped, intensely aromatic IPA, and that hop character shows in both the nose and the palate. The nose offers vanilla, toffee, floral notes, hops, grapefruit and herbs. The palate is creamy, with vanilla, honey, lime, mandarin, grapefruit and a bitter hop edge. The finish is malty and sweet, with vanilla custard and citrus.
