West Cork Maritime Sherry Cask Finish (46%)

This is an Irish single malt from West Cork Distillers, bottled at 46% ABV. It is distilled three times, matured first in first-fill bourbon casks, then finished in hand-picked sherry casks from Bodegas Barón in Spain. It is bottled without added colouring and without chill-filtration, so the amber colour comes from the casks alone. The nose is dark and fruity, with ripe figs and plums alongside the sherry casks. On the palate, sweet raisins meet the slightly tart fruit of cranberries, with green pepper and freshly grated nutmeg. The long finish brings floral heather and dried sour cherries, with a little cardamom.
