West Cork Maritime Single Malt Virgin Oak Cask Finished

West Cork Maritime Release Virgin Oak Cask is an Irish single malt from West Cork Distillers. It is one of a four-part special series paying tribute to the distillery's founders, Denis and Ger McCarthy, who worked as fishermen before founding it in 2003. The whiskey is matured first in first-fill bourbon casks, then finished in virgin oak casks from the Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky. The nose has hay, oak shavings, sawdust and creamy vanilla. The palate is soft, with fresh green fruit, vanilla and heather. The finish is medium in length, led by fresh oak spice and a distinct touch of black pepper.
