Whip Saw is an American rye whiskey from Splinter Group Spirits, bottled at 45% in a 750ml bottle. It is a blend of whiskeys aged for up to seven years, made from a mashbill of 76% rye, 21% corn and 3% malted barley. After ageing, the whiskey is finished in French oak wine barrels that previously held Matthiasson cabernet sauvignon and William Selyem pinot noir. The nose brings vanilla crème brûlée, gingerbread and spiced fruitcake, with bergamot and butterscotch. On the palate, butterscotch, toffee and caramel lead to apricot, orange zest and ginger. The finish is medium-long, with rye spice and cinnamon.
