This is a straight rye whiskey from WhistlePig, made from 100% rye and aged for a minimum of 10 years in new American oak. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled and first matured in Canada, then finished and hand-bottled at the WhistlePig farm in Shoreham, Vermont. It was first released in the summer of 2010.
The nose brings allspice, orange peel and anise over toasted oak, char and caramel. The palate is sweet, with caramel and vanilla moving into rye spice, nutmeg and a cool hint of mint. The finish is long, with butterscotch, caramel and peppery warmth.
