WhistlePig – 12 Year Old Old World Cask Finish Rye (75cl, 43%)

A 12 year old straight rye whiskey from WhistlePig, also known as The Marriage or Old World. It takes its approach from Old World barrel ageing techniques, and comes in a 75cl bottle at 43%. The 12 year old rye stocks are married together and finished in three kinds of cask: Port (7%), Sauternes (30%) and Madeira (63%). The result is described as having a Scotch-like elegance while remaining clearly rye. The nose offers caramel, vanilla and winter fruit. On the palate come rye spice, apricots, plums, raisins, dates and honey, and the finish brings dark chocolate, winter fruit, caramel and vanilla.
