WhistlePig PiggyBack is a straight bourbon aged six years, bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is distilled at the WhistlePig farm in Shoreham, Vermont, where the rye, corn and barley are grown.
The mashbill is mostly corn with a notable share of rye, and the whiskey spends its six years in Char #3 American oak barrels. It won a Grand Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is warm vanilla and caramel with toasted oak, baking spice and a little honey. On the palate, cinnamon gives way to maple syrup and roasted nuts, with apple, burnt orange, leather and a hint of green tea. The finish is long and warming, with sweet oak, fading cinnamon, maple and vanilla.
