This is a 10-year-old straight rye whiskey from WhistlePig, bottled at 55% (110 proof) in a 1 litre ceramic pig decanter with a wax seal. The shape is inspired by a 19th-century Berkshire Bitter Pig.
The whiskey is distilled from a 100% rye mash bill at Alberta Distillers in Calgary, then aged, blended and bottled on WhistlePig's farm in Shoreham, Vermont.
The nose shows toasted cinnamon, baked vanilla, cedar and leather. The palate is peppery and warm, with toffee, caramel, nutmeg, charred oak and a touch of lemon zest. The finish is medium, with rye pepper, toasted oak and a little vanilla and cinnamon.
