This is a 12 year old rye whiskey from WhistlePig, finished in wine barrels. Three types were used: Madeira makes up 63 per cent of the finishing, Sauternes 30 per cent and Port 7 per cent.
WhistlePig bought its farm in 2007 and spent five years renovating the dairy barn. The early whiskey came from a stock of 10 year old rye bought from a Canadian distillery.
It is described as a fruity rye, with plums, raisins and dates alongside honey, caramel and vanilla.
