WhistlePig PiggyBack is a 100% rye whiskey aged for a minimum of six years in American oak and bottled at 48.28% in a 750ml bottle. It was pot distilled in Alberta, Canada, then bottled at the WhistlePig farm in Shoreham, Vermont.
The 96.56 proof is a tribute to the late Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, whose birth year was 1956, and the whiskey was made with bartenders in mind.
The nose has cinnamon, black pepper, grapefruit zest and vanilla. The palate brings black pepper, cardamom, dark cherry, cocoa and a little leather. The finish is long, with baking spice, vanilla and citrus.
