White Heather 21 Year Old (70cl, 48%)

White Heather 21 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky bottled by Glenallachie Distillery at 48% in a 70cl bottle. Billy Walker of Glenallachie has revived the White Heather brand as a premium blend. It was made by vatting 18 year old single malts and grains from ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, then returning them to sherry casks and a few virgin oak casks for three years of marrying. The malt content is 47%, mostly Speyside and Highland single malts, with a little Islay malt for smoke and depth. The nose is soft, with heather honey, butterscotch, peat reek and hints of tannin. Heather honey and butterscotch carry on to the palate with orange peel and soft tannins, and the balanced finish brings peat and smoke.
