White Peak – Wire Works Alter Ego (70cl, 51.5%)

White Peak Wire Works Alter Ego is a lightly peated whisky from White Peak Distillery, bottled at 51.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The spirit was distilled with different cut points from earlier Wire Works releases, bringing forward richer fruit and a different take on the light peat. It is a vatting of American first fill ex-bourbon casks and the distillery's STR casks, which are re-conditioned wine barriques that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred. Ex-bourbon casks play a larger part than in earlier releases, emphasising the fruit and a bolder vanilla. The nose is lemon meringue, sherbet and fruit sweets, the palate tropical fruit and honey, and the finish buttery shortbread, gooseberries and light peat.
