Wild Turkey – 101 Bourbon (1L, 50.5%)

Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 101 proof, or 50.5% ABV, in a 1 litre bottle. It matures for six to eight years in new American white oak barrels given a heavy No. 4 alligator char, which shapes its colour and strong cask character. A higher proportion of rye in the grain mix and the bottling strength add to its spiciness. The distillery, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, uses its own yeast culture. Vanilla, cinnamon and oak mark the nose. The palate opens with vanilla and caramel, then oak, baking spices, toffee and a light touch of smoke. The finish is boldly spiced, with orange peel.
