Wild Turkey – 101 Bourbon (70cl, 50.5%)

Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 101 proof, which is 50.5%, in a 70cl bottle. The name refers to that proof figure. The mash bill has a pronounced rye content, and the bourbon matured for six to eight years in new American white oak barrels charred to the deep No. 4 level, known as alligator char. It is chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose combines vanilla, cinnamon and oak. The palate starts lightly sweet with vanilla and caramel, then oak, baking spices, toffee and a slight smoky note. The finish is long and full, with strong spice and orange peel.
