Wild Turkey 101 Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey in a one-litre bottle, bottled at 50.5%, which is 101 US proof. It is chill-filtered and has no added colouring. It matures for at least four years in heavily charred American white oak, the barrels given the No. 4 char, also known as alligator char. The recipe has a majority of rye alongside a comparatively high share of corn. Its spiciness suits a Manhattan made with sweet red vermouth. The nose combines caramel, honey and vanilla. On the palate, grain and spice meet a warm, smoky character. The long finish keeps the spice, with fine smoke notes.
