Willett Family Estate 9 Year Old is a single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon from barrel no. 447, hand bottled by Willett Distillery in Bardstown at 59.7% ABV (119.4 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It matured for nine years in hand-selected white oak.
Willett did not resume distilling at Bardstown until 2012, so this bourbon was sourced from another Kentucky producer and selected by Willett rather than made by it. The barrel details are recorded on the front label.
The nose is deep caramel, vanilla, brown sugar and mature oak, with dark cherry, baking spice and a touch of leather. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with burnt caramel, vanilla bean, dark fruit, seasoned oak and cinnamon. The finish is long and warming.
