William Larue Weller 2019 (75cl, 64%)

William Larue Weller 2019 is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, released as part of the 2019 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It was distilled in winter 2007 and matured in Warehouse I. It is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 64% ABV (128 proof), straight from the barrel without dilution. Wheat takes the place of rye in the mashbill, which gives a softer, rounder style with fruit and caramel even at this strength. The nose brings caramel, vanilla, dark fruit, toasted oak and a warm honeyed sweetness. The palate is smooth and full-bodied, with toffee, dark chocolate, dried cherry, baking spice and a silky wheat sweetness. The finish is long and warming, with caramel, vanilla and oak.
