William Lawson's 12 Years Old Scottish Gold – Black Tin (70cl, 40%)

William Lawson's Scottish Gold is a blended Scotch whisky with a 12 year age statement, in a 70cl bottle at 40% and housed in a black tin. The label says it is a product of Scotland, distilled, matured and bottled there. Vanilla, marzipan and nuts lead the ripe, sweet nose, with green apple, toffee and a background of spiced American oak, cinnamon and cardamom. The body is creamy, silky and balanced, bringing malted cereal, fresh fruit syrup and brown sugar, with chocolate, clean wood and a little nutmeg. It finishes short to medium, clean and sweet with a slightly dry edge, leaving mint, cola, vanilla and oak.
