William Lawson's Scottish Gold is a 12 year old blended Scotch whisky, distilled, matured and bottled in Scotland, with Coatbridge and Macduff named on the label. This one is in a 75cl bottle at 40%.
The nose is sweet and cereal-led, with malt, raisins, green apple and pear, then cocoa butter, dried peel and a little oak. The palate is medium-bodied and rounded, with walnut bread, ripe tropical fruit and vanilla from the wood, lifted by allspice and nutmeg. The finish is long, toasted and malty, leaving a gently smoky sweetness reminiscent of burnt caramel.
