Wire Work Caduro is a single malt from White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire, bottled at 46.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of whisky matured in American and French oak, drawn from first-fill ex-bourbon casks and the distillery's own STR casks, which are re-conditioned wine barriques that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred.
The choice of STR casks and the share of French oak add fruit depth and intensity to the lightly peated spirit.
Orchard fruit leads the nose, with apple and candied citrus zest. The palate brings honeyed stone fruit and caramelised nuts, and the finish carries gentle peat smoke and vanilla custard.
