Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish is a lightly peated single malt from White Peak Distillery, released in 2025 at 51.3% ABV and limited to 2,457 individually numbered bottles. It is a collaboration with the neighbouring Thornbridge Brewery.
The spirit was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in STR (shaved, toasted, recharred) ex-red wine casks that had held Thornbridge's Necessary Evil imperial stout. Those casks had previously aged Wire Works whisky.
The tasting notes run sweet and savoury, with roasted coffee, hazelnuts, dark chocolate and dates, plus a gentle wisp of smoke.
