Wire Works Pineau des Charentes is a lightly peated Derbyshire single malt from White Peak Distillery, bottled at 53.6% ABV. It comes from a single 500-litre cask and yielded 598 bottles.
The spirit was matured first in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in a cask that had held Pineau des Charentes, the fortified aperitif of the Cognac region.
The nose is peaches and cream, orange marmalade and vanilla cheesecake. The palate brings white chocolate, cinder toffee, dates, honey and dried apricot, and the finish is candied ginger, wine gums and marzipan.
