Wire Works Virgin Oak 2023 (White Peak Distillery) (70cl, 50.5%)

Wire Works Virgin Oak is a lightly peated single malt from White Peak Distillery, made with lightly peated malted barley, live brewer's yeast and a long fermentation. It is a vatting first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for several months at a lower strength in virgin American oak barrels with a range of toast and char levels. It is bottled at 50.5% ABV. The oak-led casks bring a warming mix of sweet and spice alongside rich fruit and an elegant smoke. The nose offers banoffee pie, fruit salad sweets, pistachio and cranberries. On the palate come treacle tart, toasted nuts and sweet spice, followed by a light, lingering smoke in the finish.
