Woodford Reserve – Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey is a malt expression from the Kentucky distillery better known for its bourbon. The mash bill is 51% malted barley, 47% corn and 2% rye, giving classic malty tones with rounded corn sweetness and a little peppery spice. The malted grain lets the wood play a large part in the flavour, and the result is buttery compared with the distillery's bourbon. The nose combines brown sugar, fresh apricot pastries, nutty bread, caramel and a hint of cask char. The palate has honeycomb, peanut brittle, buttered corn, toasted oak and brown bread, and the finish leaves dark chocolate and toffee.
