A Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky, in a 750ml bottle at 45.2% ABV. It is made in a pre-Prohibition style on a high-rye mash bill of 53% rye, 33% corn and 14% malted barley, with the spirit blended from copper pot still and column still distillate.
The nose is spicy, with rye grain, black pepper, cedar and cassia bark sweetened by marzipan, alongside caramel, toasted almonds, pear and red apple. On the palate come clove, mint, molasses and toffee, with warming spice building mid-palate. The finish is long and warming, with spice, floral notes and toasted oak.
