Writers' Tears Marsala Cask Finish Limited Edition (70cl, 45%)

Writers' Tears Marsala Cask Finish is a limited Irish edition from Walsh Whiskey, built on a marriage of triple-distilled single pot still and single malt whiskey. It is finished for twelve months in hogsheads that previously held Marsala from the Sicilian producer Florio. Five Marsala hogsheads were used, giving 2,430 bottles. The whiskey is bottled at 45%, five points above the regular Writers' Tears Copper Pot, to balance the natural sweetness of the Marsala. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, in a 70cl bottle. The nose is golden syrup and orchard fruit. The palate brings caramelised apple, nutty spices and wildflower honey that linger, and the finish is maritime and lightly salty.
