Yamazaki 12 Year Old is a single malt from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery in Japan, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV.
The distillery was established in 1923 on the edge of Kyoto and is described as the birthplace of Japanese whisky. This expression is built on malt whiskies matured in white oak casks, with further whiskies aged in sherry and mizunara casks adding less obvious flavours.
The aroma is of ripened fruit with a sweet vanilla note, and the taste unfolds in layers.
