Yamazaki – 12 Year Old Single Malt (70cl, 43%)

Yamazaki 12 Year Old is a Japanese single malt vatted from malt whiskies of differing maturation, all made at the same distillery. The vatting draws on American and Spanish oak as well as Japanese Mizunara oak, and it is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. American white oak contributes to the vanilla and ripe fruit on the nose, and a fine thread of smoke sits alongside the fruit. The nose offers peach, pineapple, grapefruit and candied orange, with vanilla, clove and Mizunara notes. On the palate come coconut and cranberry with a buttery impression, and the long finish brings sweet ginger and cinnamon.
