Yamazaki 12 Years Old is a Japanese single malt from the Yamazaki distillery, part of Suntory, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It was first made in 1984 and is the EU version.
The whisky is matured in a mix of casks, including Mizunara (Japanese oak), sherry and bourbon casks.
The nose offers ripe persimmon, peach, pineapple and grapefruit, with sandalwood and clove. The palate is round and rich, with coconut, cranberry, butter and candied fruit. The finish is long, with sweet ginger, cinnamon and a light oak note.
