Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a Japanese single malt from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Yamazaki was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii and is regarded as the birthplace of Japanese whisky.
This is a blend of malts matured in American oak, sherry casks and Japanese mizunara oak, with wine cask-aged malts in the mix.
The nose brings red berries, sakura petals and light oak. The palate is silky, with cranberry, honeyed spice, dried apricot and delicate smoke. The finish is long, soft and slightly spicy, with red fruit and sandalwood.
